The development group are children chosen from the Dunedin Ice Stadium's kiwiskate program who show promise and enthusiasm to progress in Figure Skating. They are approached by the club and invited to join the development squad which aims to improve their skills in the hope that they may be competitive skaters in the future.
There are four parts to the development Squad:

There are four parts to the development Squad:
- Development 1 - Skaters who have just joined the development squad. They are trained in skating skills and they are introduced to a number of skating disciplines (solo, pairs, dance, speed skating and synchronised skating)
- Development 2 - Skaters who are at a more advanced level of skating who receive more training both on and off the ice.
- Development 3 - Skaters who are competing in all regional and National Competitions and are receiving multiple private lessons as well as Off Ice Training.
- Synch Skills - Development skaters who wish to do synchronised skating.
