Development Squad:
The development group are children chosen from the Dunedin Ice Stadium's kiwiskate program if they appear to have some talent in ice skating. They are approached by the club and invited to join the development squad which aims to improve their skills in the hope that they may be competitive skaters in the future.

There are three parts to the development Squad:
  1. Novice - Skaters who have just joined the development squad. They are trained in skating skills and they are introduced to a number of skating disciplines (solo, pairs, dance, speed skating and synchronised skating)
  2. Advanced - Skaters who are at a more advanced level of skating who receive more training both on and off the ice.
  3. Novice Synchronised Team - Development skaters who wish to do synchronised skating.
  4. Teen Skate - Teenage development - Teenagers that have talent in ice skating.

The liaison for the development groups is Jeanette Wilkinson.
