The development group are children chosen from the
Dunedin Ice Stadium's kiwiskate program if they appear to
have some talent in ice skating. They are approached by
the club and invited to join the development squad which
aims to improve their skills in the hope that they may be
competitive skaters in the future.
There are three parts to the development Squad:

There are three parts to the development Squad:
- Novice - Skaters who have just joined the development squad. They are trained in skating skills and they are introduced to a number of skating disciplines (solo, pairs, dance, speed skating and synchronised skating)
- Advanced - Skaters who are at a more advanced level of skating who receive more training both on and off the ice.
- Novice Synchronised Team - Development skaters who wish to do synchronised skating.
- Teen Skate - Teenage development - Teenagers that have talent in ice skating.
